No. You can book straight in with us for a hearing assessment, hearing aid advice or ear wax removal, no GP referral needed. If your GP, ENT or neurologist has referred you, bring the letter along, as it can open up a Medicare rebate. Either way, the first step is the same: give us a call or book online and we’ll take it from there.
Our initial consultation is free. If you’re eligible under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program (most pensioners and DVA card holders are), your assessment and ongoing care are covered, and we handle the application and billing for you. A fee only applies if you need a written medical report for a referral or employment purposes, or for a children’s assessment. We’ll tell you before anything is charged.
Allow up to an hour, though many people are done sooner. We start by listening: what you’re noticing, where hearing is hard work, what you want to be different. Then a proper assessment, including a look in your ears and tests in a sound-treated room. You leave with your results explained in plain English and honest guidance on what, if anything, to do next. Bring someone with you if you’d like a second set of ears.
As a guide, our hearing aids range from around $750 to $4,250 per device depending on the level of technology, and cheaper doesn’t always mean better for your hearing. Every fitting comes with a 30-day, no-obligation free trial and a three-year warranty, with an option to extend service to five years. If a trial doesn’t work out, we’ll talk through alternatives; the final decision is always yours.
Yes. Hear More Audiology is owned by its clinicians, not by a hearing aid manufacturer or a chain, so we’re free to recommend what suits you rather than what fills a quota. We fit Oticon, Starkey, Phonak, Signia and Widex, among others, and we’ll be straight with you about the trade-offs between them. Between us we’ve spent 70+ years in the industry, much of it inside the big chains. We left to do it better.
Yes. We offer microsuction ear wax removal at all of our clinics: gentle, water-free and widely regarded as the safest way to clear a blocked ear. A 30-minute session is $110, no referral required, and it’s often the first thing we check when someone tells us their hearing has suddenly gone muffled. If you wear hearing aids, keeping wax under control also keeps them working properly.
We can help. There’s no single cure for tinnitus, but in most cases the right approach reduces how much it intrudes on your day. Because tinnitus and hearing loss so often go together, treating the hearing loss, usually with well-fitted hearing aids, is where we start, and modern devices include masking features we can tailor to you. It begins with an assessment so we understand what’s driving it.
